High Tonnage Production with up to 24:1 Reduction for High Volume Crushing Gundlach’s Two-Stage, Four Roll Breakers are a breakthrough in crusher technology. These rugged roll crushers yield a high-value product and provide reliable performance in high tonnage applications such as sizing Powder River Basin (PRB) coal:
Gundlach Breakers Save Space, Eliminate Need for Secondary Crushers, Reduce Maintenance and Operating CostsGundlach Breakers can reduce both capital cost and operating costs.
The compact design saves space and eliminates the need for secondary crushing and extra handling. Elimination of the secondary crusher and associated material handling reduces both capital and operating costs and improves product quality. Reduced handling also results in fewer fines.
In operation, Gundlach users report 98 percent on-line service. With Gundlach's maintenance-friendly dessign, wear componets are easily accessed, reducing maintenance and downtime. Coupling mounted rolls speed roll replacement. A roll inspection door and secondary roll relief are some of the additional labor saving features built in to every Gundlach Breaker.
The Gundlach Breaker is your best choice to reduce large, hard-to-size materials to your precise product size requirements.
Adjustable Roll Control
The Gundlach Breaker has two upper and two lower rolls. The housing, flywheel drives and motor assemblies are positioned for product control by means of two heavy duty oil/nitrogen cylinders.
The assembly is mounted on a carriage for ease of product control and movement for passing tramp-iron. Oil is used to position rolls for product size and inert gas functions as a "gas spring" to allow tramp-iron passage.

Rolls are fabricated from steel tubing with a hard-faced coating. Rolls are available with replaceable bolt-on segments for extra-tough service. Customized roll and tooth designs are available for longer wear-resistance and higher performance.
Upper Rolls – chisel tooth with intermittent grab teeth design efficiently pre-break and feed material to lower rolls.
Lower Rolls – chisel tooth design can be tungsten-carbide tile faced, provide high-capacity crushing with minimal maintenance required. Bolt-on segmented design shown.

The Nitroil control system is especially designed for severe crushing applications where tramp or uncrushable materials occur in the feed or when material being crushed requires high roll forces.
This secondary relief system reacts as a "shock absorber" by controlling and adjusting up to an additional 24 inches.
Gundlach's Nitroil also protects rolls from damage by uncrushable materials.
Tramp Detection and Removal: learn how tramp can be removed quickly and safely without taking down your line or damaging downstream equipment.
Fluted hubs are manufactured with high strength cast alloy steel to provide long term roll reliability in severe crushing applications.
Efficient energy use is engineered into the Gundlach Breaker. Flywheel drives provide inertial energy for crushing large lumps in the feed.
Gundlach's high efficiency design allows breakers to use minimum horsepower for lower operating cost.
A four-drive design allows direct energy input to each roll, so that all rolls are powered to deliver full energy for crushing material. This high efficiency breaker design eliminates stalls and provides maximum throughput capacity.
The Gundlach Breaker housing assembly is fabricated in sections for fast access to upper and lower rolls, from top or center. In addition, a welded plate with bar stiffeners provides extra rigidity and strength for severe crushing applications.
Standard housing features include a flange on top of the housing for dust seal, an automatic housing seal-gate when rolls are adjusted for product size or passing tramp-iron, a flange around the discharge opening for dust seal, and dust seals around the housing shaft openings.

The 8030 Breakers have provided excellent availability over the years. The breaker was originally designed to crush 48” X 0 Rom coal to a product size of 2” X 0 at a rate of 2000 STPH. This rate is exceeded (in some cases doubled) in virtually all 8030 Breaker Installations.
Gundlach has eliminated the secondary chain by adding 2 additional motors to the breaker, so each roll has its own motor. This is just one of the many upgrades Gundlach offers to make this highly reliable breaker even more efficient.
